Accommodation
Set on Hunda Island within the Jao Concession the camp’s eight tents, including one family tent, are raised on decks to take in the spectacular vistas of the Okavango Delta floodplains. Accommodation is simple and comfortable, the en-suite bathrooms complemented by an outdoor shower. Wooden walkways lead to the main camp with lounge and dining areas, together with a bar shaded by a giant marula tree, and a small pool that’s ideal for post-safari cooling off. In addition to day and night safaris, guests can enjoy catch-and-release fishing and go exploring by mokoro canoe. A hide, twenty minutes from camp, is famed for its excellent leopard sightings. The boardwalk connected camp of Little Tubu is an intimate three-tent retreat ideal for families and small groups of friends.
The best time to visit Botswana for game viewing in the delta areas is during the dry winter season from April to October when animals are drawn to water sources. Days are warm and sunny although nights can drop below freezing – in October temperatures can be particularly hot. The Okavango area tends to be more moderate than the Kalahari where seasonal differences are more extreme and activities vary according to wet (November – March) and dry (April – October) seasons.
