When the hot and dusty safari is done, the yearning for crystal clear waters leads to Lake Malawi where blissful relaxation beckons under swaying palms and romantically furnished cottages hint at a tranquil, almost bohemian way of life. Lake Malawi is the third largest in Africa, the ‘calendar lake’ extends for three hundred and sixty five miles between Malawi, Mozambique and Tanzania, its shores fringed with tropical palms, sandy beaches and dramatic rocky outcrops. Dazzlingly bright waters sparkle in the sun, a haven for sailors, windsurfers, kayakers and skiers, whilst snorkellers and divers revel in the underwater delights. Lazy days may be followed by tranquil sundowners on board a traditional dhow, finishing with a feast of freshly caught fish flavoured with exotic spices.
