Highly respected for its dedication to providing high-action game viewing with low environmental impact, the camp is located within the vast plains of the Serengeti, on the direct route of the world famous annual migration. Flowing alongside the camp, the Grumeti River attracts large numbers of hippos, a spellbinding sight from the 360 degree verandas of the exceptionally large tented living spaces which feature hardwood floors and high-end furnishings. Each has a writing desk, en suite shower room with hot and cold running water and a flush toilet – bath robes and slippers are also provided. In the central raised area with its river views there is an open-air swimming pool, split-level lounge and a relaxed restaurant. Join unforgettable game drives or thrilling guided game walks, setting off early with a champagne picnic. Big 5 game viewing can also be enjoyed from a hot air balloon, with all the day’s activities brought to a memorable end when you settle down on the sunset deck with a cocktail in hand.
Tanzania’s dry season is from June to October, with the short rains expected in November/December and the long rains from March to May. The migration follows the rains in a clockwise route through the Serengeti – from January to March the herds are mainly in the grassy south, calving in February before migrating north from April, traversing the Western Corridor and Grumeti Reserve throughout May, June and July, heading towards Kenya and the northern Serengeti. They return south again from November.
