Caribbean, Bermuda & Mexico / Nevis

Offering a taste of traditional West Indian life, Nevis epitomises the Caribbean of yesteryear. Dominated by a dramatic peak capped by wispy, white clouds, this relaxed island retreat combines charm and tranquillity, its plantation houses, churches and conical sugar mills evoking a proud colonial past. The pace of life is deliciously slow and sleepy, the verdant landscape undeveloped and delightfully unspoiled. Time almost stands still in Georgian Charlestown with its weathered colonial houses and elaborate gingerbread shutters. Just seven miles long, this tiny sombrero-shaped island plays host to some of nature’s finest treasures – tune in to the playful chattering of the green vervet monkeys as you hike through lush rain forest or hire a mountain bike to explore off road, discovering sites and views inaccessible by car. Tropical colours burst vividly from the magnificent floral displays, fountains and sculptures of the Botanical Gardens. Out to sea, the clear waters teeming with tropical fish invite divers to explore the myriad reefs and wrecks; back on dry land, cricket is played with true passion and verve. Life here is sweetly reminiscent of a calmer, more peaceful time.
