As featured in Luxury Travel: All-time Favourites

One of our handpicked family hotels for 2017

Once described by well-travelled author James Michener as “the most beautiful in the Caribbean”, Marigot Bay is the idyllic setting for this award-winning 5 star resort, transformed by Capella Hotels into one of St Lucia’s most upscale destinations. Deluxe rooms and suites boast extensive resort or bay views, most complete with private Jacuzzis and many overlooking the premier yachts that this luxury resort is recognised for. Surrounding the two freshwater infinity pools, designer cabanas tempt relaxation; savour energising smoothies and refreshing indulgences courtesy of the poolside servers. At night, soak up the lively atmosphere from the best spot in town at hillside restaurant The Grill at 14°61°, where Executive Chef Billy Boyle prepares fresh seafood and wood-grilled meats infused with island spices and herbs. At The Hurricane Hole, watch the super-yachts arrive at Marigot Bay Marina, whilst savouring flavourful St Lucian cuisine and international fare. For an utterly blissful experience, the Auriga Spa at Marigot Bay bases its signature astral-inspired treatments on the phases of the moon, whilst the Capella Library is the perfect spot for reading and unwinding in a secluded and private setting. From diving and snorkelling to premium sailing excursions, time at Marigot Bay is best spent in the water; take advantage of the resort’s water taxis to visit secluded bays and signature St Lucia destinations. A cocoa-infused beer

Capella Marigot Bay, St Lucia has teamed up with chocolatier Cocao Carib and local beer company Antillia Brewing Company to launch its own signature beer: Capella's Moon Bay Chocolate Stout. Using six different barley malts, and a large proportion of freshly-roasted St Lucian cacao nibs, the beer has been specially brewed for the resort and its guests and has a deep brown appearance with a distinctive chocolate taste. Only available in bottles and on tap in the resort and the marina, the beer can also be found at the Antillia Brewery Taproom in Rodney Bay.

Astronomical flair at Capella Marigot Bay

Astronomy is a key theme that runs throughout at Capella Marigot Bay’s award-winning Auriga Spa. The Capella namesake originates from the brightest star in the constellation Auriga, which itself lends its name to the exquisite spa; treatments here are based on the lunar cycle. Feed your cosmological curiosity with the Constellation and Dinner series; indulge in a five-course astral-themed feast before boarding a private yacht and sailing out into Marigot Bay, accompanied by a local astronomer to explain the secrets of the night sky.

Gourmet delights at Marina Village

Live music, cookery demonstrations and seasonal farmers markets give this upmarket shopping village a distinct Caribbean feel. Only steps away from Marigot Bay Marina, the easily accessible Marina Village consists of high-end fashion boutiques, jewellery shops, gourmet grocery stores and a selection of exquisite restaurants, including the authentic Indian restaurant Masala Bay. Every Sunday at the farmers market, savour fresh produce and handmade food items thoughtfully curated by the hotel's Executive Chef – or if you’d prefer, bring your favourite produce back to the resort for a private in-suite feast.

A VIP cruising experience

As St Lucia’s premier docking destination for some of the world’s most luxurious yachts, Marigot Bay Marina is the ideal place to set sail on a private yacht charter or luxury boat excursion. On a mini sunset cruise for two, relax in style as you head to Castries harbour, taking in the dramatic sights of the rugged and verdant St Lucian coastline. Alternatively, a four hour sunset voyage to the iconic Pitons allows you to enjoy a swim in the marine reserve, before savouring prosecco and light canapés en route to these St Lucian landmarks.

When is the best time to visit St Lucia?

With its tropical climate and temperatures averaging 24°C, St Lucia is a year-round destination, though the best months to visit are generally from mid-December to May, when the island is drier and less humid. During June to November, the humidity level increases and intense tropical showers or occasional storms may be experienced – excellent offers are usually available during these months. A popular choice for luxury family holidays, St Lucia is usually busy around the school holiday periods; we recommend booking a year in advance, especially for the festive season.
