American glitterati’s ski town of choice, Aspen is a glamorous hub, spruced to perfection, where a clear morning run through snow dusted trees may be followed by an afternoon concert. This ex-silver mining town offers some of America’s best après-ski, brimming with jazz clubs, hip bars and nightclubs. Ski Area Aspen’s ski area is spread over four mountains (Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass), which are all linked by efficient free buses. There are plenty of steep runs through the trees on Aspen Highlands and the Highlands Bowl, which is reached by a snowcat ride and a hike. There is also steep terrain in the Hanging Valley area of Snowmass and Aspen Mountain has challenging black runs. Snowmass is best for intermediates, whilst Buttermilk mountain is aimed at beginners with nursery slopes and long, easy runs.
