Diverse towns and villages beg exploration and tempt snow adventurers with the full range of winter activities. Eighteenth century Stowe brims with old world appeal, its wooden-spired church and colourful clapboard houses complemented by cosy inns, arty shops and top-end restaurants. Romantic Warren is ringed by majestic peaks and only a five minute drive from Sugarbush Resort, or fifteen from Mad River Glen; the old covered bridges that span the Mad River along the valley from Warren are well worth a visit.
Stowe Mountain Resort comprises Mount Mansfield – Vermont’s highest peak – and Spruce Peak. High-speed lifts give access to winding, spruce-lined intermediate trails on Mount Mansfield and black double diamond runs for brave hearts, plus some long picturesque greens for beginners; gentle green runs are also found at the foot of Spruce Peak. Warren is the base for the resort of Sugar Bush offering skiing for all abilities from well-groomed greens and blues through to rugged backcountry terrain. Both resorts are ideal for families, have impressive snowmaking facilities and are superb choices for late season skiing well into April. Alternative ski choices include Vermont's largest ski area of Killington, Stratton and family-friendly Suicide Six.
Introducing some of the best 5 star resorts in Vermont, USA.
