Uthando (Love) South Africa is an award winning, unique and innovative Non Profit and Fair Trade certified company, created to raise funds and other forms of assistance for community development projects in Cape Town and South Africa.
The projects are many and varied, with the aim of providing assistance to South Africa's most disadvantaged communities, both through financial support and the development of new, life-enhancing skills.
In Cape Town's Khayelitsha township, Abalimi Bezekhaya is a community farming project that supplies fresh, organic vegetables - the Abalimi Bezekhaya salad is a regular dish on the menu at Cape Town's Mount Nelson hotel; the Mdzananda Animal Clinic provides much needed veterinary care and treatment to the many animals living as household pets in the township. Just outside Cape Town, the Hout Bay Music Project teaches around sixty disadvantaged children how to play string instruments as well as lessons in drumming and singing; Dance for All uses the powerful medium of dance to promote self-esteem, empowerment and enjoyment amongst children. These projects, and many more, receive help and support from Uthando.
Visitors to Cape Town may like to take a unique tour to visit some of Uthando's projects - the tours are authentic, non-invasive, respectful and beneficial to the communities visited.
