News / Carrier donates £2000 to Uthando Project, South Africa

We have great pleasure in announcing that Carrier has strengthened its charitable commitments through its recent donation to the Uthando (Love) South Africa project.

Uthando is an award-winning and innovative non-profit company created to raise funds and provide assistance for community development projects in the region.  Carrier has supported the charity since 2013 and recently, three of our team visited their base in Cape Town where they had the pleasure of presenting them with a cheque for £2,000.

Three of our colleagues visited the project recently and had the pleasure of presenting the charity with a cheque for £2000, courtesy of Carrier clients. Suzanne Walford, Africa Product Manager at Carrier, said:

"We decided to support Uthando after I met James Fernie, the founder. He is an extremely inspirational and passionate man who I felt truly wanted to make a difference. The projects Uthando supports are often ones that support the poorest communities, but as well as giving financial support, many projects also give hope and a welcome distraction - like the Hout Bay Music project where children will get a chance to learn to play a musical instrument that they would never have had otherwise; or the Abalimi Bezekhaya project where local women are given the tools and skills to grow and sell fresh produce. These projects are making positive contributions to the local communities."

Carrier can arrange unique tours for clients staying in Cape Town to visit some of Uthando's diverse projects; in addition, a donation of R200 is made for every holiday booked to Africa with Carrier. Please visit their website at www.uthandosa.org to find out how you can get involved in the projects, or make any further contributions.
