From adult-only hotspots to all-inclusive island retreats, exciting new openings to fresh renovations, we reveal all you need to know to make the most of the Indian Ocean and Arabia in the coming year.

Beyond Dubai - discover Arabia's latest openings

Set against the striking Al Hajah Mountains and nestled within the sanctuary of the Al Wadi Nature Reserve, Ritz-Carlton's newest offering Al Wadi Desert, Ras al Khaimah is due to open in October 2017. Offering a luxury escapist feel less than an hour away from Dubai, this is the perfect destination for those looking to transcend Dubai's dazzling city boundaries. Each Bedouin-inspired luxury villa comes complete with a private pool and - for double the luxury - guests are invited to indulge in all the facilities of sister property, Al Hamra Beach, as well.

Just north of the city and only 25 minutes from Dubai International Airport is the recently opened Oberoi Beach Resort, Al Zorah. Built within 247 acres of protected forest replete with azure blue lagoons and lush green mangroves, and boasting an impressive white sand beach, The Oberoi group's latest offering in Ajman has been designed to impress. Rooms and suites are spacious, elegant and modern with floor to ceiling glass windows allowing for magnificent ocean views and an influx of natural light, while villas offer temperature-controlled private pools and an outdoor space to host exclusive parties.

Revamped vibes

On 01 December 2017, One&Only Le Saint Géran in Mauritius will emerge from a complete refurbishment, with each of the brand new guest rooms now offering lagoon, ocean or beach views. In the Maldives, Four Seasons Explorer has been treated to an interior makeover, with its lounge, restaurant, bar and cabins now looking slicker and sleeker than ever. Lastly, with extensive restorations to the façade and interiors of Al Bustan Palace, A Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Oman now having begun, we're excited for the unveiling of the multi-phase transformation in early 2018.

 Adult-only hotspots

Fresh from a chic and sleek interior refurbishment, Huvafen Fushi in the Maldives has now announced it will relaunch in January 2018 as an adult-only resort - there'll never be a better time to treat yourself and your loved one to a romantic island escape.

Shangri-La will relaunch Al Husn Resort & Spa in Oman as a private standalone resort as of October 2017. Changes will include a revamped beach grill and spectacular private 'Dine By Design' experiences, ranging from feasts overlooking the ocean to dramatic clifftop banquets. What's more, the resort's exclusive beach and iconic infinity pool will remain reserved for the use of Al Husn guests only.

Ensconced on an elite islet that is only accessible by bridge, the exclusive Frangipani Wing of Shangri-La's Le Touessrok in Mauritius provides guests with an exclusive adults-only swimming pool, sparkling wine on arrival, daily sunset cocktails and a complimentary mini-bar that is re-stocked daily.
