Recently refurbished Chief’s Camp in the exclusive Mombo Concession of the Moremi Game Reserve, known as the predator capital of Africa, is the setting for this sumptuous bush camp. The expansive new pavilions feature handmade furniture and a private outside lounge and relaxation deck - with private plunge pool - perfect for viewing Botswana’s majestic big blue sky and the Milky Way star canopy at night. The bathrooms offer alfresco showers and large bath tubs; floor-to-ceiling windows and folding glass doors let you freshen up with wrap-around views of the flood plain. Refurbishments in the camp’s main guest area include the newly designed bar and library, an extension of the dining suite and the addition of a pizza deck.
The new solar energy plant - which is one of the largest in Botswana, has been built to help minimise the impact of the camp on the local environment. Supplying 70% of the camps' energy, the solar farm allows the camp to use direct energy from the sun during the day and store energy for use at night ensuring that guests have use of electricity at all times.
The new Geoffrey Kent Luxury Suite can accommodate from two to six guests and features a private bar, boma, lounge and kitchen, all serviced by a private house-keeper, waiter, guide and vehicle. Ideal for honeymooners or for those looking for utmost privacy and comfort, this suite is the ultimate retreat.
The best time to visit Botswana for game viewing in the delta areas is during the dry winter season from April to October when animals are drawn to water sources. Days are warm and sunny although nights can drop below freezing – in October temperatures can be particularly hot. The Okavango area tends to be more moderate than the Kalahari where seasonal differences are more extreme and activities vary according to wet (November – March) and dry (April – October) seasons.
