A tranquil setting on the border of the Kruger National Park distinguished by luxury accommodation and personal, friendly service makes any Singita Sabi Sand safari adventure special. Shaded by ebony trees and brimming with authentic colonial charm, Singita Ebony Lodge promises a quintessentially African experience, driven by a passion for preserving iconic spaces, protecting the wildlife that inhabits those spaces, and collaborating with neighbouring communities. The original Singita lodge, it takes safari design to contemporary new levels, each suite having a private plunge pool and a glass front wall to maximise views of the wildlife that comes down to the Sand River. Six adults, or four adults and four children, can be accommodated with ease. Land Rover-based game drives, taking a maximum of six guests, explore 45,000 privately owned acres of diverse terrain – the habitat of the Big 5 and a rich array of nocturnal species which can be spotted on exciting night drives. Further attractions include a swimming pool, spa and an enviable wine cellar.
A year round destination, but expect cooler weather in the Eastern and Western Capes during winter, between June and August. Mpumalanga stays warm year round with temperatures, humidity and rainfall all increasing in the summer months between October and March. The whales return to the waters around Hermanus from July to November, and the spring months of August and September are particularly colourful along the Garden Route. The prime time for game viewing is generally the drier winter and spring months from April to September when animals frequent the waterholes. During the wetter summer months between October and March, animals can still be viewed but are more widely dispersed – from December to February there may be more sightings of newborn animals.
