Voted as the best lodge in Zambia by Condé Nast, Tongabezi lies about fifteen kilometres upstream from Victoria Falls and comprises six houses and five river cottages. The lodge is run with terrific attention to detail by owners Ben and Vanessa Parker who have given each of the accommodations a different feel with objets d’art from all over Africa. Each house is unique, some with beautiful plunge pools; The Dog House is spread over three decks and the secluded Tree House set in branches of ebony trees. Dine by the river on your expansive deck, enjoy a private lunch or sundowners on a sandbar or venture a little further to a sampan anchored in the Zambezi, attended by waiters who deliver each course by canoe. An almost endless list of activities includes game drives in an open vehicle, guided bush walks, canoeing and tranquil boat trips at sunrise or sunset. A visit to Livingstone Island is highly recommended.
