Reopened since May 2017, this signature hotel underwent an extensive refurbishment of all rooms, suites and interiors, as demonstrated by the gallery renders. Since opening in 1913 the hotel has become a landmark in Dubrovnik, blending old with new to provide a stylish sanctuary replete with cliffside views on one side looking out to the medieval Old Town of Dubrovnik, whilst on the other is the glinting boat-speckled Adriatic and pine-clad island of Lokrum.
Patronised by movie stars and royalty, the property features coolly furnished rooms and spacious modern bathrooms, while the balconied Deluxe Rooms and the impressive top-floor Presidential Suite make the most of the scintillating vistas.
The seafront Prora Beach Restaurant specialises in seafood; newly opened fine dining restaurant Sensus offers creative dishes paired with the finest Croatian wines. The terrace of the Abakus piano bar is the perfect spot to spend a convivial evening. After sightseeing, recharge in the Energy Clinic Spa with its freshwater indoor pool, Jacuzzi whirlpools, Roman Bath and Finnish Sauna, or simply relax on the sunbathing terrace carved into the rocky coastline.
The coastal regions of both countries enjoy a typically Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. The height of summer in July and August can be hot with moderate humidity. May, June and September are often the best times to visit. Winters on the coast are mild with increased rainfall.
