Originally a Cretan mansion, the hotel has been a Relais & Châteaux member since 1987. Architectural flourishes and antique gems still grace the property, with many original artworks adorning the interiors. Within the elegant main building guests are accommodated in one or two-bedroom suites, the one to three-bedroom bungalows in the grounds have a private pool and garden, as do the Minoan Royalty suites – all exceptionally spacious with opulent bathrooms and deluxe amenities. Dining is an all-Greek affair at the Yacht Club where the weekly ‘fishermen’s evenings’ by the water’s edge are highly popular – rich seafood buffets overlooking the beach below. At the Old Mill restaurant with its ancient millstone centrepiece, innovative Cretan gourmet fare is a speciality, served in the romantic garden amongst Carob trees and lanterns. Stretch out under your especially reserved parasol on the Blue Flag private sandy beach. Shared with two neighbouring sister hotels, there is also a 9-hole, par 3 golf course, watersports, Kids Ark water playground and multi-award-winning Six Senses Spa offering a transcendent rejuvination approach that unites a pioneering spirit with treatments, packages, retreats and advanced medical techniques.
Greece is blessed with a Mediterranean climate. From mid May to mid June and mid September to October the climate is pleasant and sunshine is plentiful. July and August are hot with temperatures reaching 37°C. Winters tend to be mild in the south but much cooler in the north with an increased chance of rain.
