Blending sympathetically with its surroundings the hotel comprises an immaculately restored nineteenth century manor house incorporating contemporary interiors; rooms featuring floor to ceiling windows to frame the views. Amidst the vines stand a collection of one, two and three bedroom villas and apartments melding the gleam of chrome with the warmth of wood, their sink-in sofas facing the fireplace, while in the garden of the villas a private pool provides cool respite. Seasonal menus based on local ingredients highlight the cuisine at Vale de Abraão with its open kitchen, terrace and dining room, or try a riverside table pop-up dining experience. Southern Portugal including the Algarve enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot dry summers and mild winters. July and August are hot but temperatures are moderated by sea breezes. A good time to visit Portugal is May to June and September to October, where days are pleasantly warm and sunny. Madeira is a good year-round destination with temperatures remaining pleasantly mild over the winter months.
