Known as the gateway to the Elk Mountains, Crested Butte has been transformed from a classic Victorian mining town to a year-round heritage destination that acts as a magnet for skiers, snowshoers, and thrill seekers of all ages. Brimming with charm, its clapboard buildings now house an enticing array of cafes, shops and renowned restaurants, perfect for exploring after a day on the magnificent slopes where exclusive access to private skiing can be enjoyed, free from lift queues and crowds. Known for its plentiful snowfall, this is a resort with special appeal. Receiving more than 25ft of snow per year, Crested Butte is host to a public ski area just five minutes from the town. All skiing abilities are catered for with the area offering wide open beginner and intermediate runs plus exhilarating extreme terrain, and just ten miles away lies the magnificent bucket-list ski experience Irwin. Here, a maximum of twenty five people enjoy exclusive access to a private ski area shared only by Scarp Ridge Lodge and its sister property, Sopris House. Lifts are replaced by deluxe snowcats to access untracked powder and trails groomed to order; the exclusive on-mountain experience extends to two private lodges for the comfort and refreshment of clients.
