A tropical South Seas ambience pervades this utterly remote archipelago, where the chanted aloha greetings are accompanied by necklaces of fresh white pikake flowers. Grass-skirted maidens sway in a hula under palm trees; whilst others prepare a traditional torch-lit Luau celebration. Feast on roasted kalua pig, kiawe-smoked steaks and grilled mahi mahi or move to the rhythms of Polynesian music and dance. A heli-ascent over Oahu’s white, sandy beaches, turquoise waters and fields of green is an electrifying way to view the dramatic landscape. This is the gathering place, home to the sophistication of capital city Honolulu and Waikiki beach where daring surfers ride the waves…busy, bustling and fun packed. Hawaii’s natural beauty is astounding: warm, tranquil waters, fresh floral air, tropical rainforests and snow capped summits – the sparkling expanse of Pacific Archipelago offering limitless hideaways amongst gleaming white and jet black beaches. Eleven distinct climate zones promise a treat for the senses – a land of snow and volcanic fire traversed by innumerable hiking trails. On Maui, dive the warm waters of Molokini to discover shipwrecks or take to the ocean to see the majestic humpback whales on their winter journey. Charter a sunset cruise before returning to join the Luau to party with the gentle, friendly people. Surf-assailed beaches to glowing lava flows, golden sandy coves to verdant golf courses…the islands of aloha are made for unwinding.
