Meaning ‘peaceful mountain’ in the local Native American tongue, the enchanting Amangiri resort lies amidst towering plateaux close to the Arizona border, offering an epic all-season escape with oodles of natural allure. Tucked away in a protective valley, this luxury retreat is set dramatically around an azure swimming pool, with its central pavilion housing a library, dining room and walk-in wine cellar. The spa features a flotation therapy pavilion and water pavilion complete with a sauna and steam room, with treatments reflecting Navajo culture and healing traditions. The region around the resort is sparsely populated and with only 34 suites in this vast natural arena, you feel a strong sense of solitude. Suites boast a private courtyard and a bathroom with twin rain showers and a comfortable soaking tub, whilst activities include hiking, boating on Lake Powell or fly fishing on the Colorado River. The Grand Canyon National Park and Monument Valley is also easily accessible.

Spring and fall are the best times to visit, offering warm, sunny days and cool nights. Winters are mild, and although summer temperatures can be high, the desert's relatively low humidity and pleasant mornings make outdoor activities inviting year-round.
