Day /1

Yangon - Twante Canal

Board the luxurious Orcaella in Yangon, enjoy a relaxing lunch as you begin your cruise to Bagan. Admire the mesmerising landscape as you cruise past small villages and farms, especially along the river bank of the Twante Canal; constructed in 1883 during British colonial rule, this major thoroughfare for cargo ships and local boats connects the Yangon River with the Ayeyarwady River. Enjoy a full afternoon of sailing, attend an introductory lecture from one the of the local experts on the Burmese way of life, history, nature and the many cultural landmarks that you will encounter on your journey. A welcome dinner is served on board, an opportunity to meet fellow guests.

Zalon - Midriver

Zalon - Midriver

After a leisurely breakfast and morning sail on the Ayeywardy River, visit the small port of Zalon. Take a trishaw along the main street with its stunning colonial style wooden houses and tropical gardens. Visit the magnificent Pyi Taw Pyan Pagoda, also known as the Returning Home Pagoda, where you can see the famous bronze Buddha once stolen by the British Army and later returned by order of Queen Victoria. Return to the Orcaella for lunch and a leisurely afternoon. Evening dinner is served onboard this evening.

Sailing Day

Sailing Day

Spend today relaxing onboard the Orcaella as the journey continues towards the ancient Myanmar capital, Pyay, along the way you will have the opportunity to see the famous Cliff Carvings at Akauk Taung. Make the most of the on-board facilities, whether it is a pamper session with one of the professional therapists on board, or relaxing on a sun-deck lounge with a good book.

Pyay

After breakfast, spend the morning visiting the impressive Shwesandaw Pagoda, reported to date back to 589BC, and the imposing 10-storey Sitting Buddha watching over this important site; explore the ancient city of Sri Ksetra with its unique, cylindrical shaped stone stupas. Before returning to the ship visit the awe-inspiring She Myat Mhan Pagoda to see the only bespectacled Bhudda in Myanmar, locals believe that this special Buddha has healing powers. Return on board and enjoy the rest of the afternoon sailing. Dinner is served on board.

Gwechaung

Gwechaung

After a full morning sailing and lunch on board, disembark and travel by traditional ox cart to the quaint village of Gwechaung for a glimpse into rural lifealong the Ayeyarwady River. This evening the Orcaella will anchor at Min Hla.

Day /6

Min Hla - Magwe

Min Hla - Magwe

Disembark after breakfast and enjoy an early morning visit to the Min Hla Fort, site of a great battle during the second Anglo-Burmese War. Back on board, Orcaella will continue its journey to the trade port town of Magwe and its famous Mya Thalon Pagoda. Visit the local market to experience the daily hustle and bustle of this popular trade town. Return to the ship for lunch and a relaxing afternoon cruise. Evening dinner is served onboard.

Bagan

Bagan

Begin the day with a leisurely morning sail to Bagan , enjoy lunch on board as the imposing “Pagoda City” comes into view. Spend the afternoon on a guided tour of the historic sites in and around Bagan before witnessing the extraordinary sunset over the temples. A visit to the Shwezigon Pagoda is a must or you may wish to take a tour of Mount Popa, the legendary sacred home of animist spirits known as Nats, with its impressive summit monastery. Celebrate your final evening on board and bid farewell to your fellow passengers at the Ocraella’s cocktail party on the Observation Deck followed by Dinner in the restaurant.

Bagan - Yangan

Disembark in Bagan in the early morning and transfer to the airport for your flight to Yangon and your onward travel.
