Direct flight from London Heathrow to Colombo.
On arrival transfer to The Fortress in Koggala, near Galle for a two night stay. Galle is the country’s oldest living city – boasts a unique fusion of European and Arabic cultural influences. Having first risen to prominence as a port of call for Chinese, Persian, Arab and Indian traders, the city was later colonized by the Portuguese, Dutch and British, all adding their individual signatures to the city’s rich history. It is said that Galle was the ancient seaport of Tarshish, from which King Solomon drew ivory, peacocks and other valuables. (B)
The FortressAfter an early breakfast we drive to Yala for two nights at Wild Coast Tented Lodge, the setting for spectacular guided safaris through the Yala National Park, famed for its leopards, sloths and elephants. (B)
