Secreted in one of the Masai Mara’s wilder corners, where the Sand and Keekorok rivers converge, this family-friendly camp comprises just seven canvas tents, each with a view towards the river or surrounding forest. Furnished with comfortable beds and colourful rugs the accommodations meld traditional safari design with contemporary touches such as expansive glass frontages and inviting plunge pools. Sunrise breakfasts in the bush are a hearty affair; evenings bring the opportunity to dine alfresco by candlelight alongside the Sand River. Game viewing in this area is prolific, the camp being one the first to witness the massive herds of wildebeest as they migrate north from the Serengeti. A Masai guide will accompany you on your morning and evening safaris. Further recreations encompass balloon rides for birds-eye-view game viewing, tracking expeditions, riverbed volleyball and specially designed activities for children of all ages. Exceptional elephant sights are common from December to March.
January to March is hot and dry with the long rains usually falling from April to early June. Between June and October it is warm and dry during the day but cold at night. The migration usually arrives in the Mara from July with river crossings from Tanzania generally taking place between July and September. The herds rest in Kenya before crossing back to Tanzania in October/November. Kenya’s coast enjoys a tropical climate – April to June can be humid, tempered by monsoon winds. Nairobi is pleasant year round due to its altitude.
