Privacy and exclusivity are the bywords of this enchanting lodge overlooking a very busy waterhole amid densely wooded hills. Accommodating up to eight guests in four authentic Zululand bush cottages, the property has everything needed to optimize your safari experience, including a personal ranger and 4x4 game drive vehicle, together with a dedicated chef and butler when booked on an exclusive basis. Your ranger will do his utmost to provide you with exceptional sightings of the resident lion prides, cheetah and rare black rhinos, with all manner of specialist safaris available from birding and photographic to rhino capture and research, tracking, walking and family safaris. After an exhilarating morning safari, return to your lodge for a delicious breakfast, take a dip in the swimming pool or relax in the library which has a TV and internet – evenings are for outdoor dining in the boma. With no set timetable or routine, Zuka brings a chance to experience the wonders of the bush at your own pace.
A year round destination, but expect cooler weather in the Eastern and Western Capes during winter, between June and August. Mpumalanga stays warm year round with temperatures, humidity and rainfall all increasing in the summer months between October and March. The whales return to the waters around Hermanus from July to November, and the spring months of August and September are particularly colourful along the Garden Route. The prime time for game viewing is generally the drier winter and spring months from April to September when animals frequent the waterholes. During the wetter summer months between October and March, animals can still be viewed but are more widely dispersed – from December to February there may be more sightings of newborn animals.
