Standing amidst vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills, this former castle with sections dating back to the tenth century has been carefully transformed into an intimate boutique hotel. Accommodation is suitably grand, the suites effortlessly combining Tuscan charm with modern comforts – the plush sofas covered in vibrant fabrics, the luxurious bathrooms rich in Carrara marble. Guests are spoilt for dining choices, which encompass romantic picnic lunches in the grounds, pizzas from a wood-burning oven and fine dining at Ristorante Tosca where sumptuous dishes are served beneath Murano glass chandeliers or alfresco on the panoramic terrace. Summer nights are perfect for enjoying Tuscan culinary specialities, cocktails and superb estate-produced wines within the frescoed walls of Bar Visconti. Formerly a wine cellar, the Essere Spa offers indulgent pampering and yoga sessions; a large outdoor heated infinity pool gives stunning views over the hilltop town of Casole d’Elsa. Concerts and special events are held in the estate’s amphitheatre, while guests can also join art, language and cookery classes.
Castello di Casole offers a number of different classes for those who really want to embrace the local culture during their visit to Tuscany. Make homemade pizza and pasta from the finest regional ingredients, brush up on your Italian with classes for all abilities and create breathtaking works of art through the use of traditional, artisan techniques, under the watchful eye of local artist Eva Munarin.
