It takes little more than ten minutes to complete a circuit of reef-fringed Baros, Maldives. Welcoming staff lead the way along shady paths lined with hibiscus and bougainvillaea to a choice of serene accommodations. Beachfront Pool Villas feature a private plunge pool and outdoor garden shower, whilst Deluxe Water Villas line a curving boardwalk – perfect for dipping directly into the glistening lagoon. Beautifully appointed, each has a television concealed in an ottoman and a cushion-strewn daybed on the expansive deck. Two ultra-spacious Premium Pool Villas offer mesmerising ocean views and an outdoor Jacuzzi. Dine anywhere and anyhow, the iconic Lighthouse Restaurant being the place for feasting overwater on degustation menus and savouring fine wines from the glass panelled cellar; Sails Bar serving drinks to live music. Baros also has Nooma, its own traditional dhoni for sunset cruises and romantic dinners – prepared and served discreetly by a personal chef and waiter. Guests also receive personal yoga mats for use whilst on the island, a fresh fruit platter every morning and ‘eye openers’ with breakfast – a carefully selected juice blend full of healthy ingredients to help kick start your day. The Spa at Baros is hidden within a lush tropical garden, the ideal setting for soothing the mind and nourishing the body; pampering massages and seaweed wraps are a speciality. There are over thirty dive sites close by, with a resident marine biologist on hand to answer any questions. The house reef is one of the finest in the Maldives, full of fascinating marine life and coral that Baros are keen to protect and conserve – you are able to sponsor your very own piece of coral and the dedicated Marine Centre staff will send you an update every six months.
On this exclusive private island, Mr Shijah is recognised as someone who will surpass your every wish, going above and beyond to create the most personalised, romantic, Maldivian experiences. Mr Shijah has set the scene for an intimate proposal by tying the ring to a shell and having it placed on the shoreline of an isolated sandbank, coordinating a renewal of vows ceremony at sea aboard Nooma, the traditional dhoni for a romantic dinner specially prepared by a personal chef and arranging for couples to commemorate a honeymoon by planting a memorial coconut palm on the island.
Visit the sandbank (Maldivian ‘thila’) for a truly unique experience. Take part in yoga at sunrise, enjoy a private dinner or as the sun goes down, settle into beanbags on the sand to watch a movie. You’ll be left with Champagne, Baros-made popcorn and a mobile phone to call the sandbank butler when you’re ready to leave.
Baros is the proud home of 14 hawksbill turtles that live in and around the house reef. They are named: Pana, Aya, Arnie, Sandy, Sparky, Bonthi, Goofy, Parsley, Coco, Dex, Tiger, Schumi, Osler and Sepp.

The Maldives has a hot, tropical climate with sunshine all year round. The most popular months to visit are between November and April during the north-east monsoon when it is dry with very little wind. Whilst there may be rain during some of the summer months, with ever-changing weather patterns and excellent offers, this is becoming an increasingly popular time to travel.
