Travel to Grootbos for the marine Big Five
On arrival, transfer by road to Walker Bay for three nights at Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. Participate in the many included activities, from horse riding to flower safaris and cave explorations, or explore the local area – perhaps a boat trip to Dyer Island to spot penguins, bottlenose dolphins, seals and sharks, shark cage diving, quad biking, a wine route exploration or a scenic flight over the coast, all of which can be arranged (at local charges). From July to November, the Southern Right whales bask just off shore. (FB)

Get up close with the meerkats at Tswalu
Transfer to Cape Town airport and Fly to the Kalahari for a four night stay at Tswalu Private Game Reserve. Head out on game drives or bush walks with highly experienced guides, ride through the pristine wilderness on horseback and witness the sheer size, power and magnificence of the Kalahari black-maned lion. Undoubtedly, a highlight will be a close-up encounter with a colony of meerkats; watch as they emerge, blinking from their burrows, to greet the day. Spot the Big Five at Madikwe
Fly to Johannesburg and onto the Madikwe Game Reserve for three nights at Madikwe Hills, an intimate lodge set on a hill overlooking the bushveld. Guided game drives in comfortable Land Rovers traverse plains teeming with game in search of the Big Five (lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino and leopard). Madikwe also boasts a healthy African wild dog population so you may be rewarded with a sighting. (FI)
