Built in attractive Mediterranean style in the 1930s and lavishly restored in recent years, Villa Orsula flanks the Adriatic close to the island of Lokrum. Time drifts by with guests whiling away the hours in the pretty terraced gardens, reading amidst wild orange trees and lavender; keeping cool in the arched bar or following the little path to chill out on the beach serviced by beach boys who will organise sunbeds and towels.
The 13 rooms and suites, some with a sea-view balcony, are decorated with understated flair, their rich colours and sumptuous textures complemented by high end Bulgari amenities. Throughout the property original artworks by Roberto Matta and Victor Vasarely grace the walls, and there’s a well-stocked library for your holiday reading requirements. On the grapevine-draped terrace of the Victoria Restaurant, Peruvian specialities with Adriatic fusion lead the menu; in the Lounge Bar sip signature cocktails such as the Blue Adriatic and Dubrovnik Autumn. Guests have complimentary access to the Energy Clinic Spa and Wellness Center in the Hotel Excelsior adjacent, while an outdoor swimming pool is also available free of charge within adjoining sister hotel, Grand Villa Argentina.
The coastal regions of both countries enjoy a typically Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers. The height of summer in July and August can be hot with moderate humidity. May, June and September are often the best times to visit. Winters on the coast are mild with increased rainfall.
