Tom Fazio and Donald Ross are amongst the golf luminaries who have designed courses – nine in total – that are to be found here in the North Carolina Sandhills where the Pinehurst resides. Dating back to 1901 the resort, which is distinguished by grand, sweeping verandas and a resplendent copper dome, offers four different accommodation options and a choice of dining from the Southern specialities of the Four Diamond 1895 Grille to the casual fare of the evocative Ryder Cup Lounge. Recreations are many and varied, encompassing Ayurvedic treatments in the spa, lake kayaking and fishing, a lakeside beach and a choice of swimming pools, one specially reserved for children.
North and South Carolina have a relatively tropical climate, the summer months can be hot and humid, whilst winters are relatively mild.
